Introducing: Evil Corgi!!

One of my best friends, Dana had her birthday earlier this month and I was a little late getting this LH gift to her : /

I hadn't thought of the idea until a few days ago.  She loves corgis, so I knew I wanted to incorporate that into the main picture, but it wasn't until I had traced the little guy onto the glass that I decided to make him "evil" with red eyes.  Something I forgot to mention is that Dana is also a HUGE fan of horror movies, so this seemed a great way to personalize the gift for her just a bit more.  The result?

I used a design I had drawn on Canson paper in Sharpie as the background, totally unplanned.  His tongue is painted with glass stain.  I then put a bit of tin foil behind it to give it its shiny effect.

She loved it!

Level up!

Hello there,

I'm so excited to share my new pieces with you!  Lately I have been using Sharpees to create simple drawings and phrases and I've been getting a lot of postive feedback on them here and through instagram.  Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive.

I've had some blank canvases laying around my apartment, so I decided to try drawing on them with the Sharpees.  I am so pleased with the results I'm planning to get some more canvases and start a series that I'll try to sell on a site like etsy or Big Cartel.  Here are my first two!!  They are both 8x8.

I still plan to make my framed glass pieces, but I like these pieces right now because they are simpler and not as time-consuming to make.  Once I have enough done I would love to have a little art showing at a small cafe or coffee shop.  Can you imagine??  That would be so exciting!!

Food for Thought and Inspiration

Hey, everyone!  I've been feeling so inspired lately it's incredible and I've been telling everyone this year is going to be all about friends, music, and not matching, ha ha!  The not matching part pertains to clothes, but in a bigger sense it's about doing things differently and trying things I wouldn't normally try.  So far, it's been wonderful!

The last few days I have been coming up with these really fun, really simple sayings and drawing them on plain white Canson paper.  I was first introduced to Canson paper by my high school art teacher and have used it ever since.  It's the best.  I don't know what I'm going to do with them yet, but I'm just having fun making them!  If you have any ideas for any more I'd love to hear them!

(Life had given me a lemon the day I drew this.)

Someday I'll actually put more effort into the lighting and photography of my art, but for now this will have to do.  Thanks for stopping by!

Toodles!

P.S.  I now have an instagram and use it all the time.  Find me:  @theleslieli
